A Windy Love Story in the Distillery District: My First Wedding as a Content Creator | Inside the Moment with Curl Media
When I launched Curl Media back on February 1, 2025, I never imagined where this passion project would take me just a few short months later. What started as a creative outlet, a way to bring my love for video storytelling and candid moments to life, has quickly evolved into one of the most fulfilling paths I could have chosen.
Life has a funny way of reminding us what truly matters. For me, it was about building a career that aligned with my heart and allowed me to find that elusive work-life balance. That’s why Curl Media was born. And it’s because of the incredible creative community I’ve connected with that I had the opportunity to cover my very first wedding as a founder and content creator on May 31, 2025 — something I will never forget.
The Power of Trust and Firsts:
Being fully transparent, when I was first given this opportunity to capture a wedding, I was nervous. It was a series of firsts: first discovery call, first planning session, and ultimately, my first wedding day through Curl Media’s lens.
I approached every step with honesty. I didn’t pretend to have a long list of weddings under my belt. Instead, I leaned into what I do bring to the table — a creative eye, storytelling expertise, and a genuine desire to make every couple’s experience feel as personal as possible.
When this incredible couple chose to trust me with their wedding day, it meant the world. And now, looking back? I can proudly say: I did it. And I did it well.
Capturing a Beautiful Intimate Wedding in Toronto:
The couple’s wedding was a chilly and windy micro wedding set in Toronto’s iconic Distillery District— a location full of charm and history that beautifully reflected their love story.
Their wedding was all about simplicity and elegance. From thoughtful details to intentional choices around how their day was documented, you could feel how personal it all was. The couple has built their lives in Toronto over the past six years, and this city holds immense meaning for them.
As a content creator, it was a joy to capture not only their interactions and emotions but also the atmosphere of the venue and its surroundings. The Distillery District brought its own character to the day, adding texture and depth to every frame.
A Wedding That Was Uniquely Theirs:
One of my favourite parts of this wedding was how the couple made it truly their own:
Photography and videography were done by friends, people they trust and love. Their wedding video will be music-video-inspired, a perfect nod to the groom, who is a musician and producer.
They embraced film photography with another talented friend, layering in an even more nostalgic feel.
And with me capturing behind-the-scenes content and candid moments, they now have a full story — the laughter, the hugs, the tears, the cheers, and even those model-like poses they absolutely rocked on the day.
Why Wedding Content Creation Matters:
Moments pass quickly on a wedding day. Traditional photography and videography capture the big moments, but who is there to capture the in-between? The little laughs, the cheers from the sidelines, the heartfelt hugs you didn’t even notice were happening.
That’s where wedding content creation comes in. Having me as a content creator allowed this couple to relive their full day, through every candid and beautiful detail. They now have a bank of vertical video content to use, share, and relive forever.
Final Thoughts:
As I continue this series, Inside the Moment with Curl Media, I hope to showcase even more love stories and celebrations through both my content and these blog posts. This first wedding taught me so much, not only about storytelling but about how I want to approach every event with authenticity, creativity, and care.
And if you’re reading this and thinking: “This is the kind of experience I want for my wedding or event,” I would love to connect with you. Let’s create something beautiful together. 💫
